This was a must-see adventure during our time in St. Maarten! We visited as part of a tour with Splash in the Sun, and since it’s such an iconic spot, we knew we couldn’t miss it.
As expected, it was extremely busy, but seeing planes fly so low overhead is something you really have to experience in person—it’s very cool and unlike anything else. The beach itself is beautiful, with clear water and a great view of the runway.
I went into the water but didn’t fully swim. The sand is quite deep, making it a bit difficult to walk around—especially if you have mobility challenges. There’s also a curb and rocks near parts of the beach, which can make access a bit tricky.
There are restaurants and bars nearby, which is convenient if you want to grab a drink or take a break. One thing to note: washrooms are available but require a fee.
We didn’t stay too long—once you’ve seen the planes come in, you’ve kind of experienced it—but it’s definitely worth the visit. Overall, it’s a very unique and lively spot, but be prepared for crowds!
